After leaving The
Presidents I joined a group called The Night Shift. As well as our
own bookings we also backed other artists, in particular Rod Stewart,
and supported The Who at The Marquee Club in Wardour Street, London.
We made a couple of records, one called “Corrina, Corrina”.
I played with them for a couple of years before becoming disillusioned
and I haven't really played since.
I married Christine Dixon on 16th April 1969 at St. Dunstan's Church
in Cheam, and we began our married life in Ewell, where we have
lived ever since. I have my own removal business originally started
by my grandfather. Business goes up and down and at the time of
writing is pretty flat.
We have two daughters, Joanne Corrina who is 29, and Sarah Elizabeth
who is 33. Sarah married James in 2005, and at the moment they live
in Bracknell, Berkshire, but plan to sell up next year and move
to Perth, Australia, where James has a job waiting. Joanne is already
in Australia and although she is returning for six weeks in December
2005, intends to move to Melbourne to live with her English boyfriend.
My sister and her husband are also in Australia, living with their
family in Adelaide. So who knows, perhaps Christine and I will eventually
move to Australia too.
My great love at the moment is caravanning. Christine and I go
away most weekends, even in the winter. On retiring we plan to tour
the UK and Europe and perhaps even further.
I still enjoy listening to music especially in my car with its
radio and 10 speakers. My favourites are probably Queen, The Eurythmics,
Jamie Cullum, Elton John, The Police and Eric Clapton amongst others.
I also enjoy jazz but hate rap music.
I have fond memories of playing in both The Presidents and The
Night Shift and often wonder how things would have turned out if
either of them had made it big.
